Wives and Girlfriends

Recently, a friend and I were talking about how a mutual friend of ours was learning how to play an instrument to get girls.
When my friend said, “Girls, that’s easy. Its finding a wife, that’s the hard part.“
Hmmm. Interesting. I kind of love this thought.
If this statement is true, then that implies that there are two types of women. Girls that remain girls, and women that become wives. So it got me thinking, what would the difference be? What are the differences between girls and wives?

I think it’s not just the girls who fall into two categories, it’s also definitely the guys. My favorite analogy goes something like this: Girls are like apples. The ones that have fallen off the tree may be easy to get and quite plentiful, but they’re also starting to rot, or full of worms. The best, most beautiful and ripest apples of course are at the top of the tree, close to the sun (or Son :] ) and it takes some serious effort to seek them out. I think part of the difference between a girl and a wife, is that a wife has learned to have patience, and wait for a man of character and discernment to seek her out, not jump at any chance she may get or settle for less than the best of the best.
